ESPRIT: Spain provides evidence of sales revival
THREE years after it began to restructure its operations in Europe, casual wear chain Esprit, that operates a number of stores dedicated exclusively to innerwear, reported a return to growth in some countries. In Spain, the chain expects its 2014 operations to generate sales up by 5.2 per cent against 2013, at EUR 23m. Practically all sales there are generated by its wholesale operations, which include deliveries to 15 franchisees, since only 3 per cent of Spanish revenue is generated by the brand’s online store. Other countries where sales are expected to show a positive evolution this year are Italy (+12.8 per cent) and Germany (+0.6 per cent).
Since Germany accounts for half of the chain’s sales, even a modest increase there represents a substantial volume of business.
