THE LEADING world producer of cellulosic fibres, Lenzing, said that its third quarter continued the positive development recorded in the first two quarters of 2015. In the first nine months of the year, sales rose by 7.4 per cent against the same period a year earlier, to EUR 1.45bn and EBITDA improved by 31.7 per cent, at EUR 210.6m. Lenzing CEO Stefan Doboczky commented : “In the first three quarters of the year we came close to doubling our net profit for the period compared to the same period last year. This very good performance was a result of positive exchange rate effects, increasing fibre price and the improved cost structure of the Lenzing Group. We continue to progress well in our profit improvement measures and currently benefit from the somewhat more positive business environment.” The Lenzing management expects the favourable situation to be maintained in the last quarter, bringing a significant improvement in earnings for full year 2015.
The closer focus placed by Lenzing on premium special fibres in the recent past promises to yield handsome dividends as world demand for cellulosic fibres strengthens.
