Issue Week 30-2014

THE PLANNED distribution of personalized panties announced by Triumph for the Sloggi label could prove to be only the first step towards the more generalized personalization of intimate apparel. There are indications that potential consumer demand for personalized garments could generate an appreciable volume of extra sales and other brands will be seeking means of benefiting from this trend. Whatever options are selected, the capability of brands’ online stores to provide a direct link between consumer and manufacturer will tend to favour that distribution channel over others. Added to the many other advantages that consumers derive from online shopping, the opportunity to personalize garments at the time of purchase promises to help boost yet further the importance of home shopping for sales of intimate apparel.
