OPERATED by distribution giant Inditex, the lingerie chain Oysho continues to grow internationally. Latest new openings took place in Seoul, South Korea, and Stockholm in Sweden, both in leading local shopping malls. The new openings bring to 600 the number of Oysho stores in 44 countries. The brand also operates online stores in 16 countries. In 2014, the chain raised its sales by 18 per cent, to EUR 416m, and achieved the second fastest rate of expansion within the group, surpassed only by the Zara Home chain.
Launched in 2001, the Oysho chain now accounts for only 2.3 per cent of the group’s consolidated sales. But its rapid growth promises to generate an appreciably larger proportion of group sales in the coming years.
