PUNTO BLANCO: global expansion maintained

A LEADING Spanish underwear brand, Punto Blanco that is owned by Corporació Empresarial Valls, said that it is negotiating the opening of its first franchised store in the Philippines and of a second one in Iran. The company that has opted for franchised retail stores to achieve international distribution already operates six stores in China, one in Egypt and one in Iran. It is also negotiating an entry into the US market. In its domestic market, it operates 22 franchised stores as well as 11 owned stores in addition to its wholesale business. In 2014, sales outside Spain accounted for 15 per cent of total turnover.

Competition from large global players and from national champions in other countries is such that, despite its continuing international expansion, the brand is unlikely to achieve significant international stature.
