OFFICIAL sources published information that showed a decline in the number of failures by Spanish textile companies in 2014. The 93 textile company failures registered last year represent a decline of 35 per cent against 2013. The trend was maintained, albeit at a slower pace, in the first quarter of 2015 when the failure of 25 companies in the textile sector represented a decline of 14 per cent against the same period a year earlier. But failures by all Spanish companies in all sectors declined by an average of 30 per cent in the first quarter of 2015.
The figures suggest that, despite being more prone to failure than Spanish companies in general, the country’s textile firms are facing less difficult conditions than in the past.
