INDIA: report assesses market share of branded lingerie
ACCORDING to a report published by CARE, the branded lingerie segment accounts for 52 per cent by volume of lingerie sales in India. In value terms, it accounts for 66 per cent of the country’s lingerie market. The report also predicts that the branded lingerie sector will achieve an average annual growth of 18.3 per cent during the period 2009-2014.
Four or five domestic brands now dominate the Indian lingerie market but some industry observers have suggested that the leading brands of the future have yet to be launched in India. These predictions could mean that late-comers onto the market have every chance of success if they adopt the right strategy.
