FORMERLY serving mainly the erotic lingerie sector, Coquette has launched at wholesale a S/S 2013 collection that places more emphasis on fashion-oriented lingerie. According to Elaine Carson, the company’s senior designer, the colours and textures of the new collection are light and feminine and many pieces have soft lace cups that produce a more delicate appearance. Lighter creations also contribute to the high fashion image. Carson added that it was hoped the new direction would produce more new retail accounts.
Hardly a week goes by without a new erotic label being launched in North America, which contributes to overcrowding in the sector. Consequently, it makes sense for a design-oriented company like Coquette to seek to broaden its market base.
