WOMEN’SECRET: Spanish market dominated

WITH sales in 2015 expected to reach EUR 235m, lingerie chain Women’Secret operated by Cortefiel was said by the Kantar Worldpanel research concern to have secured an 8 per cent share of lingerie retail sales in Spain. This percentage puts the chain ahead of its local rival Oysho, of foreign competitors such as Etam and Calzedonia and of distribution giants such as H&M and Primark that also sell lingerie.

The strong position of Women’Secret on the Spanish market is thought by analysts to be the result of a decision, taken in 2013, to reposition the chain further upmarket, which provides further evidence of the polarization that is affecting the lingerie sector.
